Desert Research Center Participates in International Forum in Beijing on Conserving Endangered Plant Species

In support of the state’s efforts to protect biodiversity and promote environmental sustainability, Desert Research Center, through its South Sinai Research Station, participated in the International Scientific Forum hosted by Beijing, China. The forum saw wide participation from experts and researchers in the field of conserving endangered species.

This participation was in accordance with the directives of Mr. Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and the instructions of Dr. Hossam Shawky, President of Desert Research Center, and under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Ezzat, Vice President of DRC for Projects and Supervisor of Research Stations.

The forum discussed a number of vital issues, including wildlife protection, legislation regulating the import and export of endangered species, and the latest genetic technologies used to achieve sustainability and preserve natural resources.

The event also included visits to several major botanical gardens and nature reserves in China, as well as mangrove forest reserves. The delegation learned about global best practices in managing and conserving plant diversity and the latest technologies used in this field.
