Desert Research canter and King Salman University cooperate in the field of smart digital technologies

With funding from the Academy of Scientific Research, a team from the College of Desert Agriculture – King Salman International University, in cooperation with Desert Research Centre and the Agricultural Research Centre, conducted a research experiment, which is calculating water consumption, for growing olive trees in South Sinai region, using the Sap flow device. The experiment aims to introduce smart irrigation systems to reduce water consumption, especially in desert areas.

A scientific plan for cooperation has also been developed between King Salman University, Desert Research Centre and a number of research centres in Egypt, which includes organizing a number of training courses for graduates of agricultural technical schools in South Sinai Governorate to train them practically in the use of digital technologies and smart irrigation methods to increase production and develop the irrigation system.
