Valley development

DRC works in cooperation with international organizations on developing dry valleys in the northwest coast of Egypt and North Sinai. It has recently succeeded in developing a large number of valleys and digging more than 10 thousand wells. It has also many activities in the purification and upgrading of more than 800 ancient Roman wells with large capacities. These wells were used during the Roman era in harvesting and storing rainwater. In recent years, there has been great interest in constructing hundreds of dams in valleys to seize rainwater and to reduce the speed of its runoff to the sea and to use it in cultivating more than 150,000 feddan.
