Desert Research Center Hosts Ugandan Delegation for Training at Maryut

In line with its commitment to sharing scientific and practical expertise and fostering cooperation in the agricultural and veterinary sectors, Maryut Research Station, part of Desert Research Center, welcomed a delegation of agricultural engineers and veterinarians from Uganda. The delegation, facilitated by the Egyptian International Center for Agriculture (EICA), arrived to undergo practical training in crop and livestock production.

The training program included visits to a tissue culture laboratory, where participants learned about the production of virus-free, disease-resistant seedlings, as well as an artificial insemination laboratory, a veterinary laboratory, and facilities for disease diagnosis. The delegation also explored leather processing activities and their economic potential, genetic improvement programs for Barki sheep and goats, and best practices for the care and housing of camels, rabbits, and turkeys.

This visit is part of the Desert Research Center’s broader mission to facilitate the exchange of scientific and practical expertise and to strengthen international cooperation within the agricultural and veterinary fields.
