Desert Research Center has launched the second phase of the Entrepreneurship Club by organizing its first workshop in collaboration with Al-Arish University, titled “From Lab to Factory.” This event is part of the implementation of the joint cooperation protocol between the two parties and based on the directives of Dr. Hosam Shawky, DRC President, and under the patronage of Mr. Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation
The workshop aimed to support innovation and the transformation of scientific research outcomes into industrial applications that are actionable and contribute to community service and strengthening the national economy. The event was attended by Dr. Hassan El-Demerdash, President of Al-Arish University, Dr. Wafa Abdel-Rashid, Director of the Entrepreneurship Clubs at the Academy of Scientific Research, along with several researchers and university students
Dr. Dalia Abu Zeid, Director of the Entrepreneurship Club at DRC, emphasized that the workshop focused on linking scientific research to industry by developing products and entrepreneurial projects that support sustainable development. Dr. El-Demerdash praised this collaboration, considering it a successful model of integration between research and academic institutions
Dr. Hosam Shawky stressed the importance of supporting entrepreneurship activities and transforming research outputs into practical projects that align with the state’s vision for a knowledge-based economy driven by innovation.
The workshop concluded with an open discussion session where participants exchanged ideas on enhancing the role of entrepreneurship in supporting scientific research and serving the local community
