The Desert Research Center and the General Petroleum Company have signed a cooperation protocol to establish a smart development community in the Al-Baghah area of Ras Sudr, South Sinai. The initiative, held under the patronage of the Ministers of Agriculture and Petroleum, aims to support Egypt’s Vision 2030 and strengthen partnerships for sustainable development
The project includes setting up a well water desalination unit to provide safe drinking water, supporting women breadwinners and people with disabilities through smart models for livestock and poultry production, as well as creating a unit for recycling agricultural waste to be used as fodder for Bedouin communities
Dr. Hossam Shawky, Head of the Desert Research Center, stated that this collaboration reflects the integration of efforts among national institutions to achieve economic and social development. He emphasized that the protocol highlights the General Petroleum Company’s role in social responsibility and the Desert Research Center’s expertise in ensuring the sustainability of desert resources
