Dr. Hossam Shawky, President of Desert Research Center, inaugurated the online professional diploma program, which qualifies participants for international accreditation, in carbon footprint calculation in the agricultural sector. He did so on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk.
Dr. Shawky noted that the launch of the diploma program comes at a crucial time, coinciding with the growing concern over climate change issues and the requirements for verifying the carbon footprint of agricultural products in global markets. He explained that the program has garnered significant interest from researchers and specialists across the Arab world, reflecting the increasing attention given to this vital field.
President of Desert Research Center expressed the Ministry of Agriculture’s appreciation for the role played by the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) and its efforts in strengthening joint Arab action. He also commended the partnership with the Regional Carbon Footprint Center (RCCF), emphasizing that this collaboration represents a successful model for integrating scientific and institutional efforts to serve the sustainable agricultural development.
The program lasts for twelve weeks via video conference, and participants who meet the requirements for attendance, interaction, and completion of training activities receive a certificate accredited by the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development and the Regional Center for Carbon Footprint.
