Dr. Hossam Shawky, President of Desert Research Center, participated in the EDS EuroMed 2026 Conference on Desalination, Clean Water, and Energy, which commenced today in Marrakech, Morocco. The conference brought together leading experts, researchers, industry leaders, and decision-makers from around the world to showcase the latest developments and innovations in water desalination and water resource management.
The conference is being held amidst the growing challenges of global water scarcity, increasing demand for fresh water, and the repercussions of climate change.
On the sidelines of the conference, specialized workshops were organized focusing on the use of non-conventional water sources, water desalination and reuse within resilient agricultural systems capable of withstanding the effects of climate change, and the management and use of non-conventional water in agriculture and livestock farming, given the interconnectedness of water safety, soil health, the environment, and public health.
As part of the conference activities, there is a three-day trade fair during which specialized companies and institutions will showcase their latest products and technologies in the field of water treatment and seawater desalination.
