Desert Research Center Participates in the International Training Program on Combating Desertification in China

As part of efforts to strengthen international cooperation and exchange expertise in environmental conservation and the fight against desertification, a delegation of researchers from Desert Research Center participated in an international training program titled “Combating Desertification and Restoring Ecosystems for Africa.” The program was held in China, organized by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, with “Gansu Desert Control Research Institute” overseeing its activities.

The program featured an intensive agenda, including specialized scientific lectures on desertification control techniques, sustainable land management, the application of modern technology in protecting desert ecosystems, the restoration of vegetation cover, and methods for conserving water resources in arid regions.

It also included practical field visits to sandstorm monitoring stations, “green belt” projects, and environmental research stations affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as sites dedicated to desert ecosystem restoration, nature reserves, and rural development initiatives.

Throughout the program, participants engaged in discussion sessions and presentations, sharing their experiences and success stories in addressing severe environmental and climatic challenges.
