At the conclusion of his field visit to North Sinai Governorate, Dr. Hossam Shawky, President of Desert Research Center (DRC), participated in the 2nd Sinai Olive Festival, at the invitation of Major General Dr. Khaled Magawar, Governor of North Sinai.
The festival underscores the economic and developmental significance of the olive crop, which stands as one of the key strategic agricultural products for which North Sinai is known.
As a measure to support the expansion of olive cultivation, the President of DRC, acting under the directive of the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, announced the provision of 300,000 new olive seedlings to the residents of North Sinai.
The DRC President affirmed the Center’s readiness to provide technical support and guidance to olive farmers. This includes leveraging the expertise of researchers and specialists to offer technical recommendations tailored to various stages of production, ultimately helping to improve crop quality, increase yields, and enhance economic returns for farmers.
On the sidelines of the festival, the North Sinai Research Station in Baluza participated in an exhibition showcasing agricultural products.
This participation reflects the Desert Research Center’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with North Sinai Governorate and other relevant stakeholders, as well as utilizing its research capabilities to unlock broader prospects for agricultural development in Sinai.
