Desert Research Center concluded the 7th edition of the Summer School in Matrouh, held under the theme “Towards Sustainable Non-Traditional Water Resources”, following directives from Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk and under the patronage of Matrouh Governor Major General Khaled Shuaib
For the first time, the program welcomed African students alongside Egyptian university students, adding an international dimension to the event. Activities included scientific lectures, training workshops, and field visits to Roman wells, rainwater harvesting dams, and desalination stations
The school resulted in valuable research proposals, enhanced academic collaboration, and strengthened students’ practical skills in water and environmental management
Participants recommended organizing the school annually, expanding participation, and extending the program duration to maximize scientific and field-based impact
