President of Desert Research Center honors participants in the summer school at the Egyptian Desalination Research Center of Excellence in Matrouh

The Egyptian Desalination Research Center of Excellence (EDRC), affiliated with the Desert Research Center, has concluded its summer school program—held for the eighth consecutive year—in Matrouh Governorate. This year’s week-long edition focused on the theme of “Sustainable Non-Conventional Water Sources” and saw the participation of approximately 30 researchers from Egyptian and international universities.

The closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Hossam Shawky, president of Desert Research Center and executive director of the Egyptian Desalination Research Center of Excellence (EDRC), Dr. Mohamed Abbas, former head of the Desert Research Center and summer school consultant, engineer Mahmoud El-Amir, director of the Center for Sustainable Development of Matrouh Resources, and a number of researchers and specialists from DRC.

The summer school program covered various scientific topics related to non-conventional water sources, including seawater and groundwater desalination, water reuse, water treatment and purification technologies, and sustainable solutions for water resource management.

At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Hossam Shawky honored the participants and presented them with certificates of participation.
