Desert Research Center is participating in an international training course on dry land farming technology, hosted by the Republic of China, from 9 to 29 September, 2026.
The event is held at the invitation of the China’s Ministry of Commerce and organized by the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center (FECC) of the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), as part of efforts to strengthen scientific and technical cooperation between Egypt and China.
Dr. Hossam Shawky, President of Desert Research Center, emphasized that the Center’s participation aims to leverage the latest international technologies and expertise in dry land farming, the reclamation of saline and alkaline soils, and water use efficiency.
The program (conducted across Beijing, Yinchuan, and Xi’an) includes lectures and workshops covering dryland farming policies, climate change and climate-smart agriculture, remote sensing, drought-resistant crop varieties, saline-alkaline soil treatment, water-saving irrigation techniques, and water resource management. It also features field visits to research centers and applied projects.
