Palestinian researchers visit Desert Research center to benefit from Egyptian expertise in organic farming techniques

Based on the important role of Desert Research Center to build sustainable Arab agricultural and food systems, Palestinian researchers from “Green Girls” visited DRC to benefit from DRC experience in the project “Developing a model farm in Gaza, to enhance safe agricultural production”.

Dr. Hosam Shawky, President of Desert Research Center, said that the visit aims to transfer Egyptian experience in organic farming techniques. And it is worth noting that this project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and aims to enhance social and economic empowerment of a group of agricultural entrepreneurs in Gaza.

Palestinian researchers toured to learn about the DRC’s various activities. They visited the DRC’s laboratories, as well as the Egyptian Center of Excellence for Water Desalination Research and the Land Microbiology Laboratory.

At the end of the visit, they expressed their appreciation for the good reception and the developmental role played by Desert Research Center in Egypt and the Arab region.
