Desert Research Center launches the eighth session of the summer school in Matrouh

The activities of the eighth session of the Summer School were launched at the Center for Sustainable Development of Matrouh Resources, organized by Desert Research Center, under the slogan “Towards Sustainable Non-Conventional Water Sources,” with the participation of students and researchers from Egyptian universities, along with students from different countries, in the first international participation within the activities of the Summer School.

The summer school aims to build youth capacities in the fields of water and environment, and to link the theoretical aspect to field application.

The school’s activities continue over five days, and include scientific lectures and training workshops on the management of non-traditional water resources, water desalination and rainwater harvesting, and ways to benefit from it in agricultural activities and sustainable development.

The course also includes field visits to research sites and projects in Matrouh Governorate, including Roman wells, rainwater harvesting dams, and water desalination plants, and concludes with the presentation of a number of research proposals and projects presented by the students.
